It is such a pleasure dealing with Frankton Automotive. Reliable, honest, fairly priced service. I have been going to them for over 20 years and they have looked after all my vehicles, Subaru, Audi and a Cortina. I was just in for a warrant of fitness and oil change today. I was told my oil was fine and didn't need to be changed as my car hasn't been driven that much. Definitely recommend them!

Excellent garage, I highly recommend Frankton Automotive. Andy, the owner is excellent to deal with because of his mechanics knowledge and clear communication. My 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe developed a "transmission" issue as I drove from Auckland to Queenstown in July 2026. I called from near Twizel and Andy gave me good guidance. In case I didn't make it to Queenstown, I also called the Hyundai dealer in Cromwell but the receptionist would not let me talk to a mechanic. I made it to Queenstown and drove directly to Frankton Automotive. Andy immediately took the car for a drive, put it on the hoist, then took it for another drive. The rear diff (differential) needed replacing. In addition the front CV joints had too much play and needed replacing. They could do the work in 2 weeks time, and Andy said I could drive the car in the meantime (thankfully). They sourced new CV shafts and a 2nd hand rear diff. The total cost was $3k including a new $350 tyre. I was very pleased because I know of other Santa Fe "transmission" issues costing much more to repair.

I went to frankton automotive to get a second opinion on an issue I was told about by my last mechanic. Turns out it wasn’t an issue at all, and frankton automotive cleaned up the oily mess underneath left by the last mechanic. Family owner business run by a lovely local couple. My only regret is that I didn’t go to them sooner! If you’re looking for a mechanic but don’t know who to choose, then look no further!
